Research Pursuits 【 display / non-display

  • I am interested in anything that makes systems more intelligent and user-friendly using artificial intelligence and language information processing technologies. I am also in charge of developing methods about Web intelligence. In recent years, I have been studying on interpreting time-series data with words, and developed methods to verbalize the trends of stock prices and human behaviors in a moving picture. Moreover, as for language processing, I have been working on analyzing the latent semantics of documents, and developed various document processing applications such as multi-document summarization, document clustering, information retrieval, etc. I have also been working on robotics using evolutionary computation and reinforcement learning, and intelligent system control using a particle filter. As a study on big data, I have also been developing a ranking method of RDF data such as the data in DBpedia, aiming to develop basic technologies for processing Linked Open Data.

Educational Pursuits 【 display / non-display

  • For undergraduate students:
    At the first year of undergraduate course, I taught an introductory course of computer systems. I prepared lots of material for the students to blush their knowledge about the computer systems.
    At the third year of the undergraduate course, I taught natural language processing (NLP), artificial intelligence (AI), and English training course. As for NLP and AI, at every lecture I gave all slides that I used in my lecture to the students and gave them problems to exercise so that they understand deeply about the content of the lecture.
    .
    For graduate students:
    I gave a lecture about advanced information retrieval technologies. I took up important technologies of information retrieval and application systems with the technologies as the subjects of the lecture. Moreover, I gave a lecture about statistical natural language processing.

Future Research Plans, Research Prospects, and Joint Research Potential 【 display / non-display

  • I will work on intelligent information processing and language information processing using machine learning techniques. In particular, I plan to concentrate on verbalizing time-series data and multi-modal information.
