Research Pursuits 【 display / non-display

  • Organisms are constructed with adhesions between cells and between cell and extracellular matrix, which is insoluble material surrounding cells. Purpose of my study is to examine the effect of the adhesions on cell proliferation, cell differentiation, and cell apoptosis. Especially I am focused on one of matricellular protein, vitronectin which mediates between cells and extracellular matrix. Vitronectin is present in serum and the extracellular matrix during wound healing and neurogenesis, and is involved in the proliferation and differentiation of neuronal progenitor cells. I would like to examine how vitronectin regulates the development of cerebellum and midbrain and wound healing.

  • I deliver lectures about molecular cell biology, which is my major, for undergraduate and graduate students.

    “Laboratory Course of Cell Biology" Experiments of purification of a extracellular matrix protein, assay of cell spreading, introduction of gene into animal cells, and expression of proteins in animal cells.
    “Research on Biology" I was in charge of three undergraduate student and supervised her graduation thesis.

    I was a committee member for seven thesises for master's degree.

Future Research Plans, Research Prospects, and Joint Research Potential 【 display / non-display

  • We are planning the analysis of mechanisms how the morphogenesis of animal tissue, especially neuronal tissue and wound healing is regulated by a matricellar protein, vitronectin. In detail, we focus the analysis of mechanism how vitronectin regulate the neurogenesis of mouse cerebellar granule cell precursors. The results of this study could reveal the role of vitronectin in the development of neuronal tissue.
