I am conducting research on strongly correlated electron systems using neutron scattering methods. Materials recently investigated in my research include the heavy-fermion superconductor CeCoIn5, the skyrmion material MnSi, the anisotropic superconductor Sr2RuO4, the ferromagnetic superconductors RENi2B2C (RE=Er and Tb), the topological superconductor candidate PdBi2, the non-centrosymmetric superconductor LaNiC2, the spin-current enhancing system MnO/NiO, the spin-glass system NixMn1-xTiO3 exhibiting memory effects, and their related compounds.(1) Exotic superconductivity in CeMIn5 (M=Co, Rh, Ir)The heavy-fermion superconductor CeCoIn5 is theoretically predicted to realize a peculiar superconducting mixed state (FFLO state) due to a strong Pauli paramagnetic effect. In the Furukawa Laboratory, we are conducting validation experiments for the FFLO state and investigating the relationship between magnetism and superconductivity.(2) Verification of superconducting symmetry in the helical vortex state of non-centrosymmetric superconductors (Sr2RuO4)For superconductors lacking inversion symmetry, the emergence of a helical vortex state is theoretically predicted when a magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the local electric field present within the system. Using small-angle neutron scattering (SANS), we are attempting to experimentally demonstrate the existence of the helical vortex state in the non-centrosymmetric superconductor LaNiC2.(3) Memory effects in spin-glass systemsFollowing our work on FexMn1-xTiO3 and NixMn1-xTiO3, we are currently investigating the memory effects in CoxMn1-xTiO3, a spin-glass system with xy-type anisotropy.

[Undergraduate Courses]Condensed Matter Physics, Introduction to Solid State Physics, Experimental Physics Laboratory[Graduate Courses]Strongly Correlated Electron Physics, Seminar on Strongly Correlated Electron Physics[Thesis and Dissertation Advising]Each student assigned to the laboratory is given an individual research topic and receives personalized supervision. A list of past research projects is available on the laboratory website. Students synthesize their own samples for their assigned themes and investigate their physical properties using X-ray structural analysis, electrical resistivity, magnetization measurements, and neutron scattering. While a significant amount of time is dedicated to thoroughly understanding research objectives and discussing optimal experimental and analytical methods, I actively strive to convey the excitement of research—specifically, "how to successfully pioneer solutions to new problems with one's own hands."

My research focuses intensively on the interplay between superconductivity and magnetism. Currently, my primary research themes include: (1) elucidating the relationship between magnetism and superconductivity in the heavy-fermion superconductor CeCoIn5, (2) experimentally demonstrating the helical vortex state in non-centrosymmetric superconductors, and (3) investigating memory effects in spin-glass systems. The second theme represents an unexplored frontier; although theoretically predicted about 20 years ago, it has yet to be verified in any real material system. While an experimental demonstration is extremely difficult and challenging, driven by the strong motivation to "be the first in the world to capture a physical phenomenon that no one has ever seen," I am pooling all my accumulated experience and expertise to prepare for these experiments with maximum effort.Regarding neutron scattering techniques, I can provide advice based on my expertise and am open to discussing potential collaborative research. If you are interested, please feel free to contact me.
