My research subjects so far are as follows: (1) Aspects of “Art for Life's Sake" in Modern and Contemporary Japanese Cultural Scenes; (2) The History of the British Studio Craft Movement (mainly in the field of ceramics); and (3) A Mental Map of the Modern Japanese: A History of World Views Conceived by Modern Japan in the Period between 1905 and 1945.
